SAM BROWN AMERICAN PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION
Samuel H. Brown, Sam Brown, was born in Denver Colorado April 1st, 1940. He
attended schools in Denver and Graduated from North Denver High School, where he
played football, basketball and baseball. He attended Colorado State University where
he played Varsity Baseball. In 1958 he had a tryout with the Pittsburg Pirates. During
his college years he played semi-pro baseball for the Coors and Englewood Redbirds
semi-pro baseball teams.
Brown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado in 1962
and his Law Degree from Stanford University in 1965. Brown served as Attorney for the
Ministry of Agriculture, Lesotho Africa under a Ford Foundation Fellowship and later
served as an Honorary Consul for that Country. Brown served as Assistant Attorney
General for the State of Colorado from 1966 through 1971 with responsibility for
handling most all Colorado State Contracts, Public Works, Accounts and Control
Colorado Olympic Commission and the Governor’s Office.
In 1971 Brown founded Brown and Associates Ltd., a Commercial Real Estate and
Investment firm, in Denver, Colorado.
Brown and Associates has organized and managed over 75 joint ventures Limited
Liability Companies and partnerships involving some $200 million in assets including
shopping centers, office buildings, warehouses, apartment and land subdivisions.
From 1988 through 2006, Brown was involved in the Factory Outlet Industry. In
1988 Brown and Associates brought the first Factory Outlets to Colorado, the
Silverthorne Factory Stores. Brown planned and developed the Dillon Factory Stores in
Dillon Colorado. Brown and Associates currently manages 380,000 square feet of
commercial real estate with approximately 135 tenants.
Brown taught Advance Commercial Real Estate Law at the University of
Colorado Continuing Education Program for over 30 years.

In later years, Brown played in many tennis tournaments and leagues.
In his seventies, Brown switched from tennis to pickleball ten years ago and has
taught pickleball clinics, played in numerous pickleball tournaments and pickleball
Brown founded the American Pickleball Association and now serves as its
